Lee, following your posting yesterday, I went to Hatfield for dawn and on arrival (7:30 am) there were no waxwings in sight. After about fifteen minutes a flock of 40 arrived and over the next hour, the flock gradually grew to 124 or thereabouts. They stayed high in the surrounding Poplar trees for a lot of the time with occasional frantic forays to gorge on the white Rowan berries, but they did seem to spook easily when feeding. After about 10am the numbers seemed to drop off with the occasional bird or two still remaining. I left at 10:15. Managed to get a few pictures (attached) - my first waxwing photographs!
