An OWL bonanza at Heartwood Forest

No less than 5 SHORT-EARED OWLS are currently hunting the extensive grasslands and young plantations of Heartwood Forest, Sandridge, as well as at least 2 Long-eared Owls, Barn Owls and up to 6 Common Kestrels. The birds are present towards the upper ridge, accessed by walking right of the main car park. Elsewhere in the county, two female HEN HARRIERS are hunting the Greys Farm game crop strips at Therfield Heath, with an excellent selection of owls, other raptors and farmland species in that area too.
